Gift to IUP from Alumni Couple to Provide Scholarships for Student from Pennsylvania Northern Tier Counties
February 10, 2014

A scholarship fund established by an alumni couple will benefit Indiana University of Pennsylvania students from the commonwealth’s Northern Tier counties.

Paul and Susan Miller have designated their gift, in excess of $101,000, to establish the Northern Tier Scholarship. Eligible students will have at least a 3.2 grade point average and sophomore status in IUP’s College of Natural Science and Mathematics or Eberly College of Business and Information Technology and be residents of the Pennsylvania counties of McKean, Potter, Tioga, Lycoming, Cameron, Clinton or Elk. Thousand-dollar scholarships from the fund will be renewable for up to three years.

“The Northern Tier Scholarship comes at an excellent time, as IUP seeks to enroll and retain Pennsylvania’s very best students,” said Bill Speidel, vice president for University Advancement. “We are most grateful for the Millers’ support, which provides high-achieving students a reward for their hard work and also defrays their college expenses.”

The Millers, who live in Germania, Pa., and Holland, Ohio, both graduated from IUP in 1974.
The scholarship will be administered by the IUP Financial Aid Office. Awards will be made beginning in 2015.

That is awesome! It is just the kind of motivation our students from rural areas need! Thank you to the Millers!

Great Job Millers. Out Guidance Counselor need to do a better job informing the parents and students of these opportunities. I know St Bonaventure gives a $12000 a year scholarship to Potter and McKean residents with a certain GPA/SAT score
