Potter County is creating its legacy at the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT)

Potter County is creating its legacy at the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT)

The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) continues to successfully carrying out its mission “to continuously improve the present and future quality of life in the counties served by the foundation”
This includes Bradford, Potter, Sullivan and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County in New York State. Potter County was added to the counties that CFTT serves in 2010, increasing its service area to the current five counties served. The support and work done in Potter County has been remarkable!

The CFTT’s Board of Directors, County Advisory Board Members, and Committees consist of nearly 50 volunteers that have worked diligently to share the mission of CFTT. Eight people represent the CFTT Potter County Advisory Board and three of them sit on the CFTT Board of Directors. One county and eight people might seem to be a small portion of CFTT’s work, but Potter County has truly been an inspiration for all the other counties with the success they’ve had in giving back to their community. Through their support, the communities’ support, donor’s personalized visions, and through long-term fund building that provides long term support, Potter County has been extremely successful in impacting their community.

In 2013 four new funds were created in Potter County. These include the Darlene J. Sitler Memorial Scholarship Fund, Robert B. Merten Circle of the Fifths Music Award Scholarship, Barbara Joy Olney Community Harmony Fund, and the Darlene Sitler Music Fund at Northern Potter School District. CFTT now administers a total of seven funds that benefit Potter County. $417,541 was received in 2013 for those four new endowed funds that have been invested. A portion of the earnings go back into the community each year, while the remaining money continues to grow and increase the money going out in grants each year. In 2013 Potter County awarded $17,827.75 in grants back into their community. This is up nearly $5,000 from the previous year and will continue to grow. CFTT expects to award over $30,000 this year with the creation of the four new funds.

Anyone can write a check, but CFTT is a vehicle for people to leave a legacy. A legacy is defined as money or property bequeathed to someone by will or something handed down from an ancestor or predecessor, or from the past. CFTT builds endowed funds that not only give back today, but give back forever. CFTT is a vehicle for people to give back to their community now or through a bequest. A opportunity for anyone to leave a legacy in the community they care about. Everyone has something close to their heart, so why not establish a fund that will benefit that need in the community today and forever. Creating an endowed fund at CFTT allows you to ensure your favorite non-profit continues to be able to do the vital work they do. It can ensure that youth in your community are able to further their education by offering scholarships. It can ensure that the environment is forever protected. It can provide support in whatever area of need is important to you.

Anyone interested in learning more about the CFTT or about potentially creating a fund can call 570-888-4759; fax - 570-888-2179; email - or website - .
