Nancy A. Frampton, 84, a resident of the Ecumenical Home, formerly of Chapel Ridge and 28 Phillips Road, Bradford, PA, passed away, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 peacefully, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born April 14, 1929, in Bradford, she was the only child of the late Raymond and Helen (Hockenberry) Whitford.

On June 5, 1947 both Nancy and her beloved Donald Frampton graduated from Bradford Senior High School along with 292 classmates.

Don accepted a scholarship from the University of Kentucky where he played varsity football under Paul “Bear” Bryant. Nancy remained in Bradford and was employed by Bradford Laboratories as a lab technician in addition to being accepted into and attending the newly formed Penn State Credit Class Center in Bradford, where she graduated at the top of her class.

Nancy and Don were married on March 3, 1951 at Ridgeland, SC while he was serving in the United States Air Force at Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia. They took up residence in Savannah, GA where Nancy continued to work as a Lab Technician for the Bureau of Mines.

Upon their return to Bradford she was employed by Corning Glass Works as a lab technician and later as a sales correspondent from 1957 to 1986.

As a child Nancy learned the game of Bridge while frequently being a “sub” at her mother’s card club. She remained an avid bridge player her entire life and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League.

Over the years Don and Nan very much enjoyed entertaining. They were members of the Friendly Forties and Ball & Chain. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, making candles and floral arrangements. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, and the Bradford Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

Surviving are her sisters-in-law, Patricia (William "Ron") Hollenbeck, and Elizabeth Frampton both of Bradford, one cousin Phyllis Markham of Albuquerque, NM, along with several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers-in-law, Eugene “Pete” Frampton and Wylie Frampton.

Family will be receiving friends Monday, March 24, 2014 from Noon to 1:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., at 1:00pm funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Rob Klouw co-pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
