You know spring is here when Chris Hobson is set up in front of his house and the men's coffee klatch is standing around in local parking lots talking.

The maple sap is running and you can see telltale signs of those plain galvanized buckets and connecting lines throughout town on some of our most majestic sugar maples in the area. Rathburn's Farm in Crystal will be one of the featured Maple business's this coming weekend on the Maple Tour sponsored by the Pennsylvania Maple Association. See an article on a new community blog developed by Tim Gieger. They list as a site to find locations of pancake breakfasts and information on Maple Weekend activities.

I want to congratulate Reece Osgood for winning an Art Award from the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University for her Clay Giraffe Bank. Did you know that every 8 seconds a baby boomer is retiring? There are 77 million of them and they are our new volunteers. And on that note two of my favorite baby boomers Ed & Nani Bell are reopening Nani-Pops on March 31st. I intend to be in line will you?

And though Mother Nature can't make her mind up the first day of spring is Thursday have a happy and safe week.

The path to my porch is clear, drop in or you can reach me at 814-697-7625, or my facebook page to report information about what your organization is planning or news of the Oswayo Basin.
