Watercolor Class for Beginners

Watercolor Class for Beginners

This 12-hour Watercolor Class for Beginner’s will introduce participants to materials, basic color theory and several watercolor techniques. Juried PA Wilds Artist Julie Mader will lead students through projects introducing wet-on wet washes, glazing and charging, as well as teaching the use of frisket, salt and bruising paper fibers, among other fun techniques. Previous experience is not required.

This class is part of a series of workshops being taught by regional artists including: Jessie Vaughn, Curt Weinhold, Julie Mader, and Rick and Zoe Boni. Thanks to a PPA Grant provided by the PA Council on the Arts, these workshops are being offered at a reduced rate with the goals of raising awareness of the arts in Potter and McKean Counties, and providing those interested in developing or improving their artistic skills with opportunities to do so. These workshops are supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

This class is being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 10 – April 29, 2014, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Potter County Education Council’s Port Allegany office. The cost is $50.00 per person, which covers the cost of materials. To register, visit or call (814) 545-1333.

Julie is an awesome teacher..I have taken some of her classes and have learned quite a bit from her. I am sure that any class that is taught by her and her colleagues will definitely be worth taking!
