4 Coudersport women injured In Thursday Crash

4 Coudersport women injured In Thursday Crash

Four Coudersport women were injured Thursday as a result of a 8:20 AM accident on Route 872, about 1/4 mile south of Kio Road in Eulalia Township. Two of them were subsequently flown by medical helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.

The crash occurred as Stephanie Deutschlander, 32, of Coudersport, PA, driving a 2008 Ford Fusion, was following behind a slow moving 2002 PennDOT street sweeper driven by John J. Wiles of Roulette, PA.

A 2012 Subaru Outback, driven by Olivia L. Mickle, 55, of Coudrsport, PA, struck  the Ford from the rear, pushing it into the guide rail and into the back of the street sweeper, causing the Ford to come to a stop. The Ford was then struck again by the Subaru.

Josefina V. Hughes, 51, of Coudersport, PA, and Novelyn Williams, 32, of Coudersport, PA, were passengers in Mickle's Subaru.

Deutschlander and Mickle were transported to Cole Memorial for treatment. Hughes and Williams were also transported to Cole Memorial and subsequently flown to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.  Wiles was not injured in the crash. Everyone in this crash was wearing seatbelts according to Trooper Matthew Montag, who is investigating.

Coudersport Fire Rescue, Coudersport, Austin and Roulette Ambulances, and Medics assisted at the scene.

Both of the automobiles were disabled and towed from the scene.

Mickle was cited for not operating at a safe speed.
