Bridge Replacement Project Starts Monday on Route 49 in Potter County

Due to an internal miscommunication, PennDOT released erroneous information about Potter County bridge work on Friday, April 4. There is no bridge work on SR 49. The correct bridge work is below:

Potter County
Bridge Replacement Starts Today on Route 1016 in Potter County

Detour coming later this month

Potter County - Work to replace a Harrison Township bridge in Potter County got under way today on Route 1016 (North Fork Road). When work is complete, area drivers will enjoy safer travel on a modern structure and PennDOT will be able to remove the bridge from Potter County’s structurally deficient list.

The bridge spans the White Branch of North Fork Creek on Route 1016 (North Fork Road), near the village of North Fork and carries an average of 125 vehicles daily. Originally built in 1938, the current bridge will be replaced with a single span, concrete bridge. For the next two weeks crews will be performing preliminary work, including sign-setting and erosion and sedimentation controls.

The actual replacement work requires closing the bridge. The closure is expected to be in effect April 21, at which time an 18-mile detour will be in place. The detour includes roads in Potter and Tioga counties. Those roads will include Route 1016 (North Fork Road) in Potter County, Route 4008 (North Fork Road), Route 4005 (North Fork Road), and Route 49 in Tioga County, and Route 49 and Route 1019 (Second Street/Whites Corners Road) in Potter County.

Overall work includes bridge replacement, roadway and approach paving, guide rail updates, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. The contractor for this $1.1 million job is LTT Trucking LLC of North Bend. The project is expected to be complete by September but all work is weather and schedule dependent.

These two bridges were replaced last year. I hope you mean they will fix the road going to the new bridges.

Ummm, a bit late on the notification. These two bridges were completed earlier this year. One bridge adjacent to Dodge Hollow and 49 Int and the other at the Moore Hollow and 49 Int. Both just west of Elmer.

49 definitely needs some work done to it. This winter was hard on it.
