Close-Up Photography

Close-Up Photography

We spend time in nearby forests to photograph ferns, flowers or whatever nature provides. Best methodology includes flash, reflectors, tripods and lenses. Suggested gear includes: macro lens or a screw on close-up filter; auxiliary flash with connecting cord; and tripod. If you do not have these items, the instructor will supply loaners, which will allow you to learn what to purchase to fit a budget. In addition, bring: camera with fully charged battery and suitable memory card; comfy clothing and shoes suitable for the weather; and water and a bagged lunch.

This class is part of a series of workshops being taught by regional artists including: Jessie Vaughn, Curt Weinhold, Julie Mader, and Rick and Zoë Boni. Thanks to a PPA Grant provided by the PA Council on the Arts, these workshops are being offered at a reduced rate with the goals of raising awareness of the arts in Potter and McKean Counties, and providing those interested in developing or improving their artistic skills with opportunities to do so. These workshops are supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

This class is being taught by local photographer Curt Weinhold and will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Potter County Education Council’s Coudersport office. The cost is $10.00 per person, which covers the cost of materials. To register, visit www.pottercountyedcouncil.org or call (814) 274-4877.

So many talented artists in our mist! We are truly blessed. Curt with his camera talents, Jessie with her little dildine puzzle paintings, and the Boni couple from Kane with chainsaw carving. If we could get Curt to get a picture of the Mr. Boni carving the word dildine with a chainsaw we would have the trifecta! But seriously thanks to all of you for sharing your skills.
