Community Foundation has Scholarships Available for seniors at Northern Potter School District

Community Foundation has Scholarships Available for seniors at Northern Potter School District

Thanks to generous donors, the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) has two scholarships available to Northern Potter seniors.

The Northern Potter Scholarship was established by a retired school teacher. It has been growing with the support of numerous community members who are dedicated to its mission “to assist Northern Potter seniors in a post-secondary education”. The goal of the fund is to grow large enough to award at least $40,000 annually. Gifts towards this fund are matched at 50% by a local donor. This scholarship will provide for a $1000 scholarship to be awarded this year.

The Darlene J. Sitler Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by four of Darlene’s former students. This fund has also been growing thanks to many local donors who want to continue Darlene’s legacy of compassion and enthusiasm for her students. This scholarship is for a student who participated in Northern Potter’s music program and who plans to attend a four year college or university in pursuit of a degree in any field of education. This fund will award $1,000 this year, thanks to a donation from the American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses.

Interested students can contact their school guidance counselor or CFTT at 570-888-4759 for more information or an application.

Both these funds continue to grow in order to award more scholarships to Northern Potter students. If you’re interested in contributing to these scholarships, please visit CFTT’s web-site at www.twintierscf.org and click “donate”. A drop down box will appear and you can pick either Northern Potter Scholarship Fund or the Darlene J. Sitler Memorial Scholarship Fund to contribute. You can also send a check to CFTT with the scholarship fund name you’re contributing to in the memo. These checks can be mailed to the CFTT, Board Vice-Chair at: Olney Funeral Home PO Box 384 in Ulysses, PA 16948.
