It was called having pride in work and yourself ! My grandfather proudly worked in a couple of these places until he went to war in WW2 and served his country proudly. Now it's all about handouts and freebees ! If we still had things like this our country would be in better shape!
I'm pretty sure the president tried to do this at least 2 times. In both instances, jobs programs designed to upgrade our crumbling infrastructure never made it out of committee in the House...because, ya know, communism or the debt or government can't create jobs.
Foolish platitudes with little foundation in reality.
We had an opportunity to do this with interest rates at 0% and it was stolen from us by small minded people who place political loyalty above national interests.
