Rosemary Anne (“Tante”) Wells, 69, Coudersport, PA

Rosemary Anne (“Tante”) Wells, 69, Coudersport, PA, was born August 15, 1944.

She loved her childhood particularly the Radio Kids show on WFRM. She developed her love of music in her youth.

She graduated from the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA, where she was a member of the choir, madrigal and loved her years there. She attended McMurray College. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Masters Degree in music theory and a second Masters Degree in music composition.

Rosemary went to Europe in 1969 and spent 6 years there, before returning to Coudersport.

She was active in Trout Unlimited, North Country Singers and Second Chances. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Coudersport, where she sang in the choir, served as lay reader and on the altar guild, and frequently played the piano and organ. Her church was a wonderful family to her.

She was always running errands for herself and others, and could be seen all over town no matter the weather. She was always seen taking photos along her journey.

Rosemary loved spending her summers at Cuba Lake. She loved boating, swimming and fishing. She maintained friendships with many childhood friends and enjoyed their company.

Rosemary had many medical problems throughout her life. She was frequently said to be down and out but she always battled back. Rosemary had a most positive will power and courage.

She will be remembered as a kind, gentle woman who could not do enough for others. She is happily playing J S Bach in heaven now.

Rosemary was the daughter of the The Honorable Walter P. Wells and Anne Mulligan Wells, who both preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brothers, John (Donna) Wells, Chris (Denise) Wells and her sister Tricia (Allan) Kapteina, cousins, Margot Schutt Backas and Nancy Schutt Cantwell, nieces, nephew, and great-nieces.

A memorial service will be held on May 10, 2014 at the Christ Episcopal Church of Coudersport at 10am, the Rev. Janis Yskamp officiating. Music selections will be offered by North Country Voices. A reception to follow in the parish hall.

Donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 601 N. Main St. Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the National Eating Disorders Assoc. Suite 402, 165 West 46th St. NY, NY 10036 so that no one will suffer as she did.

Arrangements being held by the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, Ltd. “A Life Celebration Home”.

My children always enjoyed stopping at her house to trick or treat! She always gave them an apple and something home made like a brownie. She will truly be missed by many.
