Corbett lifts new-gas-lease moratorium in state forests

Corbett lifts new-gas-lease moratorium in state forests

Andrew Maykuth, Inquirer Staff Writer
Philadelphia Inquirer

Gov. Corbett on Friday signed an executive order lifting a 2010 moratorium on leasing additional state forests for Marcellus Shale natural-gas development, but it prohibits new leasing that would cause additional surface disturbances.

The order puts into effect a promise the governor made in February to generate $75 million for state coffers by leasing Department of Conservation and Natural Resources lands adjacent to public and private land already under existing leases that can be developed using horizonal-drilling techniques.

Our state forests are for the people of this state.

Past, present and future.

NOT FOR IT'S GOVERNMENT'S COFFERS AND THE CORPORATIONS DONATING TO IT'S POLITICIANS

If you Republicans are so ignorant you can't see to throw this man out, then there is truly no hope left for your bought and paid for party of "small government"

Tree huggers seem to wine and complain a lot. Actually, that's all they do. I gave never heard one happy, yet they all rely on the resource coming out of the ground. Gas field workers i have meet are very polite people just trying to support their families. I am neither tree hugger not gas worker but for sure in support of gas workers.

2:14 I've had the complete opposite experience. Every rig pig that I've ever met was a complete d-bag while the tree huggers were cool people with respect and conviction.
