In spite of almost flood conditions on Lyman Run and at the lake, the Kid's Fishing Derby was a great success and over 100 fish where caught. The grand prize fish, a palamino or golden trout that was 17 3/4 inches long, was caught by Preston Burd who will have his fish mounted by Crestview Taxidermy in Coudersport.

The Friends of Lyman Run would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the park management, staff, rangers, and maintenance crews at Lyman Run for the terrific job they did setting up for the derby and all the extra work they did due to the high water conditions. Once again they proved they are one of the best park's staffs in the Commonwealth!

Also a big thanks to all the Friends of Lyman Run volunteers who helped with the planning and running of the derby and without whom, this event could not have happened.

We would also like to thank all the sponsors and suppliers for this year's derby: Crestview Taxidermy, Eastfork Sportsmens Club, Rainbow Paradise, Equipment Rentals, Zito Media, Gods Country Black Forest Snowmobile Club, Black Forest Conservation Association, Southern Potter Snowmobile Club, Keener's Kountry Store, Galeton Drug, Galeton Shop and Save, Nittany Minit Mart, Foxes Pizza, Pudgies Pizza, the Susquehannock Club Inc., Walmart, Paul Miller, GB Max Signs and the Tackle Shack in Wellboro.

We hope that all the kids and their families had a great time and remind everyone that there will be programs sponsored by the Friends of Lyman Run at the park all during the summer and also remind everyone about the Great Halloween Spooktacular the weekend before Halloween in October!
