Warren County Students Locked In Rooms Friday While Police Search Lockers

Warren County Students Locked In Rooms Friday While Police Search Lockers
3 Warren County Schools Involved; Police investigate/dispel rumors at Sheffield School

Warren County Public Safety posted this notice on their Facebook page at 12:45 PM on Friday:

On Friday, May 2, 2014 the Warren County School District with the services of the Pennsylvania State Police and the Narcotic Detector Dogs, conducted searches of Eisenhower Middle High School, Beaty-Warren Middle School, and Warren Area High School. The searches began at approximately 10:00 am and lasted until approximately 12:12 am. All interior locker areas and designated areas within each building were searched while students remained in classrooms. Central office administrators and building principals accompanied canine handlers from the Pennsylvania State Police throughout the search of each building. The District would like to thank the Pennsylvania State Police for their cooperation in today's events.

In a separate incident, rumors at Sheffield High School began yesterday when a student stated that students should wear the color blue tomorrow so they “don't get hurt”. This progressed throughout the day (yesterday), the rumor got bigger and more graphic, as rumors do. The student has been interviewed by law enforcement and the investigation is continuing; however I can say with confidence that there is no credible threat to any of the students or staff.

The schools are not talking as to the reason for the actions, but say further information will be forthcoming.
