Community of Galeton owes Jean and Pete a big "thank you"

Over the years the Galeton Rotary Club
has played an important part in beautifying the John J. Collins Memorial Park and the area around the beautiful Berger Lake. The Rotary Club has made substantial contributions to the park fund raising activities, planted flowering trees that line the lake and constructed benches with flower arrangements in two pots on each bench.

In 1990 the club had 12 of these benches constructed and the line the south side of the lake and throughout the park. They have been maintained by the club. 15 years ago Jean and Pete Folk made it their project to plant these many flower pots and maintain them throughout the summer. This required watering constantly on dry summers. Jean and Pete made it their responsibility to purchase the flowers as well. We are sure many just take these beautiful flowers for granted, but the community of Galeton owes Jean and Pete a big "thank you" for making the park and lake even more beautiful.

Rotarian Pete is also the assistant district governor for our Rotary district.

We ride through Galeton about twice during the summer. The area around your lake is very nice. Thanks to all of you for making it a beautiful view!!!

There is a river running through our town too. Will the taxpayers pay to dam it up and screw up a free flowing river and mess up the fish migration and create a big murky mud puttle with no acquatic life in it so our photographers can have a nice reflecting pool in our town? I will plant the flowers.

Not all dams are bad. Without dams, there would less electricity to use.
