Events Set for Weekend in the Wilds

Events Set for Weekend in the Wilds

Cameron County Chamber of Commerce says it will be a wild weekend Saturday July 5. Elk Bugling returns with prizes totaling $375.00 to be awarded, while there is no cost to enter the event.

The Weekend in the Wilds event starts Thursday with a used book sale at the Barbara Moscato Library.

Saturday the events run dawn to dusk! Big Foot Hunt begins at sunrise and continues until 1:00pm. A $5.00 license is required and can be purchased from several locations in Cameron County.

Vendors will begin selling from the Artisan Tent on North Chestnut Street at 9am. Other vendors will line Fourth Street. Jimmy Singer’s Auto Service will be the location for children’s events. Archery, air rifle shoot, crayfish races and Woodland Elementary PTO activities will keep children entertained.

You can prove your ability to bugle like an elk with the 2nd annual Keystone Elk Country Alliance Elk Calling Contest. The event is free to enter and features an adult and youth division. Cabela’s is sponsoring the event and will hand out gift cards ranging from $25 to $100. Registration forms are available at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce office or by phone at 814-486-4314.
The First Presbyterian Church will host its annual pie and ice cream social Saturday from 4-6pm. Penn State Creamery Ice Cream will be served. Upstairs music will be performed by the Mountain Melodies and Community Band until 6pm.

The event culminates with the fireworks! They will blast off from the Cameron County High School Football Field at dusk. Food vendors will be set up at the high school and the swimming pool will also be open! The night swim at the pool will give a unique viewing opportunity for the fireworks.
