Clara Road Bridge Job Complete/Route 4003 Now Open To Traffic

Potter County
Detour lifted on Route 4003 Bridge Job

Coudersport – A detour that began in early June with bridge work on Route 4003 (Clara Road) was lifted today and the bridge was open to traffic. The bridge spans Bradley Run in Clara Township and the detour used Moffit Road, Route 4005 (Whitney Creek Road), Route 44, and Route 4003 (Clara Road).

The bridge was repaired as part of a $2 million contract to preserve seven bridges in Potter County, with a goal to provide area drivers with safer travel on bridges that will remain in service for years to come.

The other bridges include Route 1022 (Mill Street) in Galeton Borough spanning Pine Creek, Route 3004 (Kim Hill Road) in Roulette Township spanning Card Creek, Route 44 in Hebron Township spanning the South Branch of Oswayo Creek, Route 49 in Ulysses Township, spanning Luddington Run, Route 49 over Steer Run in Eulalia Township, and Route 144 over Cross Fork Creek in Stewardson Township.

L.C. Whitford Company, Inc of Wellsville, New York is the contractor on this project, which is expected to finish by the end of the year. Overall work will include deck and concrete repairs, rebar installation, latex overlay, abutment and wing wall repairs, guide rail updates, roadway paving, pavement markings and miscellaneous items. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, follow detour signing, move through work zones with caution and always buckle up.
