Alfred Swendrowski, aged 82, of Oregon Hill, Wellsboro, PA

Alfred Swendrowski
Alfred Swendrowski, aged 82, of Oregon Hill, Wellsboro, PA, passed away quietly and found peace on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Helga; his son, Eric and wife Karon; two loving granddaughters Katarina and Alexandra; son, Victor, and his daughter, Jennifer Studenny. Alfred was also survived by one sister, Hedwig Pyckevet.

Korean War Vet
Born in Genk Belgium of Polish parents, Alfred came to the United States in 1952 as a Lodge Act Member of the United States Army in which he served during the Korean War. Later, he became a cartographer for Litton Industries an
affiliate of NASA and worked on the American space program. After that, he worked for Sears Roebuck Co. as head of the east coast security division.

Alfred soon found that the mountains of Pennsylvania were where he wanted to settle, and in 1973 he created a German restaurant with his wife Helga called the Idlewood Inn.

A memorial service will be held in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wellsboro, PA on Wednesday, September 3, at 4:00 PM. Directly after the service, Alfred will be laid to rest in the Oregon Hill Cemetery.

In memory of Alfred, donations to St. Peter’s Catholic Church would be greatly appreciated by the family. Local arrangements by Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Home”, 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA 16901.
