Motorcyclist Dies in Accident

On Friday evening, August 1, 2014, Wellsboro and Galeton fire crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in Shippen Township shortly after 8PM.
Life Flight 4 medical helicopter was put on standby at 8:12PM even before emergency crews arrived on scene.
Wellsboro fire personnel arrived on scene by 8:18PM after locating the crash near the Coach Stop Inn on Route 6. It was confirmed that there was a motorcyclist that was seriously injured.
Other crews continued to arrive on scene around 8:24PM. Tioga Freedomist received word that there were at least 6 units from Wellsboro at the scene, along with Medics and one unit from Galeton.
Life Flight was recalled at 8:29PM and it was stated that the coroner was dispatched to the accident scene at the same time.
Deputy Coroner James Daugherty pronounced the death of one male motorcyclist. The coroner was on scene for nearly a hour. Read more...
Pennsylvania State Police said Joseph Housel, 46, of Wellsboro sustained
fatal injuries after he was thrown off of his motorcycle.
