PennDOT Removes Weight Restriction on Route 555 Bridge in Elk County

St Marys – With repairs complete today, PennDOT has removed weight limits on a Route 555 bridge in Elk County. The bridge spans Kersey Run in the village of Weedville. The bridge was recently posted for 10 tons with a one-lane traffic pattern in place. Now that repairs are finished, PennDOT can remove the weight restriction and restore the bridge to two-lane traffic. The bridge will be fully opened as of 4pm.

The Weedville Bridge was built in 1930, is 74 feet long, and carries an average of almost 1,700 vehicles daily. It is scheduled for full replacement in 2015.
