Alumni Society Invites all to 'A Night in the Wilds'

Alumni Society Invites all to 'A Night in the Wilds'

DuBOIS – The Penn State DuBois Alumni Society invites all members of the community to "A Night in the Wilds", to learn more about the state's elk herd, in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds. The event is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, at the Elk Country Visitors Center in Benezette, PA.

Benezette has long been the hub for viewing elk in open and natural surroundings in Pennsylvania, and now the Elk Country Visitor's Center offers a bounty of educational exhibits, multimedia experiences and hands-on learning opportunities in that community. The "A Night in the Wilds" event will offer alumni and friends the opportunity to see this center first hand, taste some local foods, network with alumni, and hear a keynote address.

Penn State Alumnus, Rawley Cogan, ‘79, ‘91g, is President and CEO, and co-founder of the Keystone Elk Country Alliance, and a Penn State DuBois Outstanding Alumnus Award recipient. He will present the evening’s keynote address, Elkonomics and Partnerships, which will tie together the recent 100-year anniversary of the elk’s reintroduction to Pennsylvania, the Visitor’s Center, and other factors leading to sustaining a healthy elk population.
This event is hosted by the Penn State DuBois Alumni Society, in conjunction with the Centre

County Alumni Chapter, and the Keystone Elk Country Alliance. The cost for the event is $25 for Penn State Alumni Association members and $35 for non-members. Proceeds will benefit the Penn State DuBois Alumni Society Trustee Scholarship. Reservations can be made by contacting Julie at 814-375-4775 or jad62@psu.edu or by visiting http://www.ds.psu.edu/Alumni/alumevents.htm
