Work on Route 255 project near I-80 DuBois continues

Work on Route 255 project near I-80 DuBois continues
Traffic delays expected Saturday as traffic pattern changes

DuBois – Traffic delays should be expected Saturday, Sept. 6, as work continues on PennDOT’s Route 255 project near I-80. Crews will be setting barrier and painting roadway lines in order to make another change to the traffic pattern on a small bridge just north of the Treasure Lake entrance.

Dependent on weather and work progress, lengthy delays could occur into mid- afternoon. The Northbound traffic pattern will remain shifted to the right shoulder while the southbound traffic pattern will be shifted to the center, opposing the northbound traffic as it crosses the structure. This will allow crews to work on the left lane and left shoulder of the bridge for the final phase of bridge repairs.

Flaggers will be in the roadway on Saturday from 7 a.m. into the afternoon hours enforcing an alternating traffic pattern during the traffic shift work. Once barrier is set and lines are painted, northbound and southbound lanes will reopen to traffic. A 10½-foot width restriction will be in place, which is a change from the previous 11-foot width.

Work remaining on the project includes guide rail installation and roadway milling and paving. This project started in May of 2013 and has included milling and paving, bridge deck repair, cleaning and upgrading of pipe culverts and inlets, water-line extension, and installation of new traffic signals at the I-80 ramps. All work is weather and schedule dependent. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Inc. is the contractor on this $3.7 million project.
