Galeton Weather Report for October 2014

Galeton Weather Report for October 2014

By Henry Lush, NWS observer
October 2014 was a beautiful Fall month. The trees were colorful and some even lasted throughout the month. The month started out with a few days in the 70's and the month ended with a warm period with a high of 80 on the 29th. Our first killing frost was on the 11th and then a 29 degree reading on the morning of the 25th. We had a few cooler days mid month. Overall it was a month of fairly normal temperatures. Paul and Sue did send me a photo of a snow covered field near Germania on the 19th.

Total rainfall was 2.87" and last year we had 3.71" with a trace of snow. We had a rumble of thunder on the 1st and we were off to a foggy start most every morning.

The average high temperature for the month is 64 degrees and low of 42 degrees. The record high is 90 degrees in 2007 and low of 21 degrees in 1988. Normal rainfall is 3.39".

Winter is still nine weeks away.
