Public Stargaze Programs to Resume in Spring of 2015

Public Stargaze Programs to Resume in Spring of 2015

Cherry Springs State Park's public stargaze programs have concluded for 2014. These free public education outreach programs will resume in April or May of 2015. The park is still open to stargazing year round. The Astronomy Observation Field is for overnight stay for those with telescope (fee required). The rustic campground (camping fees) is scheduled to be close on November 16th and the water in the main restrooms located on the Astronomy Field will most likely be shut off on that date as well. There is a CXT ( pit vault) restroom located on the back side of the Astronomy Field.
The Night Sky Public Viewing Area (where the public programs are held) is open to anyone wishing to stargaze for a few hours and there is no fee for using this area. Those wishing to use the area should park in the public parking lot and walk over to the amphitheater where benches for viewing are provided.

For specific information about the park and stargazing opportunities, visit the Cherry Springs Dark Sky Fund FaceBook page, or their website at www.csspdarkskyfund.org. or you may call Lyman Run State Park which administers Cherry Springs at (814) 435-5010 or contact them at lymanrunsp@pa.gov

The Dark Sky Fund/Association would also like to thank all of the Dark Sky Team volunteers for their dedicated and hard work this year and to Greg Snowman, EES, for his excellent programs.

We attended several programs & Mr Snowman always presented a very interesting, professional program. It's what brings us back!
