Seniors Visit Rotary


Senior guests began visiting Rotary at the Setpember 25 meeting held at the Moose Family Center. The club welcomed Allen Friend and Hannah Ernst as their first seniors of the 2014-2015 school year. Allen is the son of Joe and Shannon Pritt. He is a member of the football team. He plans to enlist in the United States Marines. Hannah is the daughter of Fred and Ginger Ernst. She represented Port Allegany at the Miss McKean County Fair competition. She is active in the music program at PAHS and is a member of the Concert Choir, Show Choir, Chamber Singer, Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, served as Treasurer of the Chorus and Commanding Officer and previously Drum Major of the Marching Band; she is a member of the Spanish Club, Peer Helpers serving as Treasurer for one year; She was selected for IU9 Band and District Band and advanced to Regional Band; she is a member of the Volleyball team and track team , Varsity Club and has participated in the musicals. She plans to attend a Christian College.

The October 2 meeting of the Port Allegany Rotary Club welcomed Senior guests Alex Dynda and Somer Safford. Alex is the son of of Sam and Diane Dynda and has a younger sister, Lauren. He is in the College Prep course and is a member of the Academic Team, Enrichment, French Club, Golf Team, Matt Competition Team, National Honor Society and like most typical kids he enjoys video games. He plans to attend RIT or Behrend and major in Software Engineering. Somer is the daughter of Angela Green and Chris Koch. She has a younger brother, Jarid Green. She is taking Culinary Arts at the CTC. She plays softball and soccer. She likes to read, draw and is writing a book. She takes Mixed Martial Arts in Coudersport and wants to start hunting and fishing. She works at the Daily Bread. She plans to attend school for Culinary Arts and would like to open a bakery.

There were 16 members present for a reportable attendance of 66 percent. Other guests included Pat Boadamer, Susan Carlson and Debbie Mallery. The Lucky Rotarian of the Day was John Mallery.

At the October 9th meeting, the Rotary Club welcomed senior guest, Christopher Lashway. Christopher is the son of Joe and Mary Lashway. He has a younger brother, Tyler. Chris is in the Academic curriculum at PAHS. He plays football, baseball and basketball. He is a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, Peer Helpers and Varsity Club. He plans to attend Clarkson in Pottsdam NY and major in Mechanical Industrial Engineering.

There were 18 members present for a reportable attendance of 75 percent. Other guests included Paula and Haley Bayline, Anneik Zengerink and guest speakers for the day - Charlie Kysor and Adam Koehler. Charlie and Adam were chosen as the 2014 RYLA Ambassadors and represented the Port club at the conference. The pair gave a presentation of their RYLA Experience that was very well received by club members. The Lucky Rotarian of the day was senior guest, Christopher Lashway.

Senior guests at the October 16th meeting of the Rotary Club included Malari Lapp and Charlie Kysor. Malari is the daughter of Mark and Ingrid Lapp. She has an older sister Alyssa and a younger brother, Holden. She is a member of the Chorus, Band, Chamber Singers, Show Choir, Jazz Band, Spanish Club, Marching Band and National Honor Society. She plays percussion and piano and enjoys reading. She will attend Slippery Rock University to major in English Education. She would like to be a high school English teacher and maybe go into administration. Charlie is the youngest of the three Kysor boys, sons of Dan and Kate Kysor, who have reached the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a Drum Major for the Marching Band, is a member of the Concert and Jazz Bands, is a member of the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, the National Honor Society, the Vice-President of the French Club and is the Treasurer of the Drama Department. He is a member of the soccer team where he serves as Captain. Charlie plans to attend Davidson College in North Carolina and major in Chemistry. There were 14 members present for a reportable attendance of 56 percent. Other visitors included Debbie Mallery and Troy Herzog. The Lucky Rotarian of the Day was Ron Mickle.
