Mark E. McCoy, age 61, of Venus, PA

Mark E. McCoy
Mark E. McCoy, age 61, of Venus, PA, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at UMPC Northwest at Seneca following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born January 22, 1953 in Knox, he was the son of Mary L. McIlhattan McCoy of Knox and the late Edward W. McCoy.

He married the love of his life and eternal soul mate, the former Kimberly Stroup, on May 12, 2012 and never failed to tell her that he loved her dearly.

Mark retired in from UGI Central Penn Gas Company in 2014. He started with the company after graduating from Keystone High School in 1971.

Mark was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Knox and was also a member of the Fryburg Sportsmens Club, where he loved to go for wings of Thursday nights and visit with friends.

He enjoyed a peach tea and playing 7’s with friends and camping and boating with special friends Scott and Lisa Pratt of Oil City.

Mark was an avid outdoorsman, who loved archery and often chuckled about his flintlock season and his 2 to 38 ratio of missed kills!

As sick as he was from chemo, in 2013 Mark still managed to climb a tree at his favorite hunting spot in St. Petersburg and down a nice nine point.

Survivors include his mother, his wife and their children: Robert E. McCoy and wife, Stephanie, of Turtlepoint; Gage Myers and friend, ShiAnne, of Cranberry; Leigha “Poo” Myers and friend, Casey, of Oil City; two grandchildren: Faith and Blake; two sisters: Mimi Freeman and husband, George, of St. Johns, Florida and Marcia “Fluff” Vensel and husband, Doug, of Tionesta.
Mark is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews along with his beloved dog, Angel.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Flannigan McCoy.

Family and friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1051 Twin Church Road, Knox.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the church with the Reverend Karen Parsh, church pastor, officiating over the service.

Jeans and camo attire preferred.
