Pleasant Gap Man Died In Rt. 153 Crash Near Penfield

Police said 65 year-old Carl Smith Jr., of Pleasant Gap, died after the car he was riding in lost control, crashed into an embankment and flipped.

State Police in DuBois said it happened on State Route 153 in the area of Colby Road in Huston Township Saturday morning around 5:30.

Police said the car was driving North on SR 153 and lost control on a right hand curve. The car allegedly slid into an embankment and flipped over onto its roof.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, 60 year-old Craig Rupert, of Lock Haven, was taken to Penn Highlands DuBois with major injuries.

An investigation is ongoing. Penfield Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
