Are the people of this county NUTS? Why did'nt someoen at the meeting speak out against giving a raisee to jobs that should not be career jobs but public service jobs. So now I guess we can expect taxes to raise. NIce Guess I will not vote for these yo yo's again

If you knew anything about what has gone on in the past you'd know that these offices generally receive a 3% raise. So while it is a raise, it is less than what they have gotten.

I do not have a problem with 2-percent raises when you look at the responsibilities. I am guessing 2 percent for a handful of people is nothing that will drive up taxes in budget that is in the millions of dollars. Most of these elected officials actually do a good job. I am glad they are looking into seperating out the jail warden from the sheriff. About time.

I have a problem with these raises when it comes to the current County Treasurer and a Commissioner. Any time I have stopped into the Treasurer's office which is frequent, she is rarely there so we could potentially give her a raise? If we have to pay anyone, I will vote for the person who is going to show up and be present. It's time we put people in the position that will work for the county and not just collect a pay check. I understand elected officials aren't held accountable for the time they take off but they should be when their time off is being paid by tax payers and it is excessive. 40 hours a week should be a requirement in any of these positions. Time off should be recorded. This will get the part timers out of office.

I can't speak for what a treasurer does but when it comes to a commissioner I would rather have someone who is active in the community, in Harrisburg, or wherever else they have to be then someone who is punching a time clock and being confined to an office just to "put in 40 hours." It comes down to professionalism and leadership as compared to "being in the office." That's what I would prefer.

read the figures. that small 2% raise seems like a small amount until you see that it is actually $1000+ per year.

Have you seen how mismanaged the county jail is? The local sheriffs deputies seem to think their job descriptions include playing games with people. I seem to recall an escape not too long ago? That dept. should not even be considered for a raise until they get some adult supervision for the deputies and guards. How about some integrity, adult supervision, and accountability before considering a raise.

Have you seen how mismanaged the local sheriffs dept. is. It seems the county has had an escape not too long ago. It is my understanding the guards hadn't been following the rules? The county sheriffs deputies seem to think that playing games with people is part of their job descriptions? Until the guards and deputies get some integrity, professional ethics and adult supervision that dept. doesn't
deserve to keep their jobs let alone receive a raise!
