We have a lot to be thankful for folks as all that 7 feet of snow stayed northeast of us. I'm not looking forward to the melt at all, keep those muck boots handy. May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving and a safe start to Buck Season.

This week at school will be early dismissal on Wednesday for Thanksgiving Break, the kids return on Tuesday Dec. 2nd. The Music Department is having a poinsettia sale and there will be a School Board meeting Monday night at 7.

On November 28 Assembly Park will be lit and the following evening the OV Senior Center is hosting the movie "Elf" in their parking lot to kick off to "A Small Town Christmas". You can access there webpage on facebook at "small town Christmas". You'll notice posters all over town and detailed list along with the entry forms available at Howard's Home Furnishing, OV Memorial Library and the Senior Center.

G2 Gymnastics & Fitness is offering multiple classes and programs starting at age 3 through adulthood. If you would like more information on their programs, please visit or contact us through email: This is a great program for boys and girls of all ages and skill level. No experience needed! There next session will run for 4 week due to our competition season and the holidays: November 22-December 20 with no class on December 13th. Register online ASAP to reserve your spot!

Sharon Lodge #598 will be holding a special fish fry at the lodge Dec 5th . It will be a 100% donation to the Richie Amidon family. Their son Josh will be going to the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh for surgery. The dinner donation is $10.00 hours are from 4-7:00 pm.

I received a call for entries for the 1st Shinglehouse Lighted Santa Parade that will be held DECEMBER 6 with entries circling the High School parking area at 5:00. You may have a lighted decorated car, float, truck, tractor or walk on your own. Folks are hoping the Fire Department and Ambulance crew will throw some light on the trucks and join them.

Also this week Norton's Building Supply will be celebrating their 75th year in business.  Did you know Bill Norton hired Margaret to be his bookkeeper in 1940 and the rest is history. Congratulations Norton clan we are proud to have you here in Shinglehouse!

So drop in and set a spell on the porch with me or you can reach me at 814-697-7625, or my facebook page to report information about what your organization is planning or news of the Oswayo Basin.
