Busy Holiday week for Station 5
Christmas Morning
In the early morning hours Mckean 911 alerted Station 5 and Ma 5(fire stand by) for a structure fire in Wetmore Twp on Rt. 66. Chief 5 was on the scene within minutes, and advised heavy smoke and flames showing, and requested one engine from Elk. 6 (Wilcox) to scene for manpower. Engine 56 upon arrival took the address and crews pulled 1 3/4 line into the residence and had the fire knocked down in a few minutes. Engine 57 arrived next and laid 5 inch hose from a hydrant and supplied water to 56. Engine 58 arrived and began ventilation of the structures roof. Rescue 55 arrived and sent there manpower to assist with ventilation and set up portable lighting. Kane Fire Police and Elk Co. 8 (Highland) shut down Rt. 66 for approximately 2 hours. PSP also assisted Mckean Station 10 (Mt. Jewett) stood by at Station 5. Great work by everyone and thanks to all mutual aid. Crews were available about 2 hrs later. Chief 5-10, 5-20 also responded 


Monday Afternoon:
Mckean 911 center alerted Station 5 and MA 5 for a tractor trailer accident on Rt. 66 on James City Hill, reported tractor trailer on its side,leaking fluids. Chief 5 was first on scene and advised one tractor trailer on its side leaking fluids and brine water. Rescue 55, Engine 58, Engine 56 all responded and assisted in securing the spillage with oil absorbent, oil absorbent pads and isolated the areas of the spillage. Elk Co. 8 assisted in shutting down Rt.66 along with Kane Fire Police, and PSP. DEP responded along with Big Dog towing. Great work by everyone! 


Monday night: 21:00
Mckean 911 alerted Station 26 (Ludlow) Station 5 (Kane), Station 72 (Sheffield) for a structure fire reported Chimney in Hamiliton Twp. Station 26 responded with Engine 262 Tanker 261 and Tanker 263 and Chief 26 and Chief 26-10. Station 5 responded with Chief 5, 5-10, 5-20, 5-30, Engine 56, 57 and Sheffield responded with an Engine to stand by at Station 26. Units were on scene for about an hour.

We are really proud of our fire dept. They work very hard and do a good job. Thank you to all fire Departments for all they do for us.
