Cameron County Holds Line On Taxes; Questions Community College Representation

Cameron County Commissioners discuss community college issues

EMPORIUM — The Cameron County Commissioners on Wednesday approved the county budget for 2015, which calls for no tax increase for residents.

The commissioners said the estimated revenue and expenditures for the coming year will be $8,073,563.32. The measure was passed.

The commissioners thanked county secretary Brenda Munz for her diligence in planning a balanced budget, and tipped their caps to department heads who were able to keep expenditures for the coming year within expected revenue amounts.

In other news, since the announcement of board members for the rural community college that will cover unserved areas of northcentral and northwestern Pennsylvania, the commissioners have contacted the state Department of Education and representatives of state and federal elected officials to try and find out why Cameron County does not have direct representation.
