Hunter Shot In Potter County Thursday; Shooter Fled Scene In Pickup Truck After Altercation

Hunter Shot In Potter County Thursday; Shooter Fled Scene In Pickup Truck After Altercation

State Police at Coudersport have released information on a shooting incident earlier on Thursday.

The incident occurred between 10 and 11 AM in a wooded area of the state game lands in Pike Township, Potter County.

Jarrett Rapp, 28, of Marietta, PA, had been hunting and was attempting to exit a wooded area when an alleged altercation began as an unknown hunter (a white male estimated to be in his 40's, wearing a 1/2 face mask, an orange camouflage jacket, and green pants) fired a bullet which grazed Rapp's leg causing a minor injury. The unknown actor then approached and punched Rapp.

Rapp then struck the actor in the facial area with his rifle. The actor fled the scene in a pickup truck (light blue in color). State Police were assisted by the PA Game Commission and ask that anyone with information regarding this incident contact PSP Coudersport at 814-274-8690.

At 12:36 PM on Thursday, a BOLO was issued to all area police agencies for the truck with 2 white males estimated to be 40 to 50 in age who were last seen on Phoenix Run Road headed toward Route 6. One of the males may have facial injuries, possibly a broken nose. The truck may possibly have a VA or WVA license plate starting with the letter J.

In a check with State Police earlier tonight, they said that the suspect is not in custody.

Guns are not illegal in Washington DC. Hunting is but that would be for the same reason you cant hunt inside any town or city.
