911 needs to do some public service training to the general public on how to correctly make a 911 call. There is always a delay when a caller wants to argue with the Dispatcher about just answering the questions. "I need an ambulance NOW" isn't going to get you anything but an ambulance, responding Alpha. Which means, no lights, no sirens. Answering the questions that we ask, while another dispatcher is ready to dispatch, could get you and Ambulance and a Medic, responding with lights and sirens. In the 20 seconds it would take you to answer, not argue with the dispatcher, can be a huge, life saving difference. You will be asked to repeat your address and your phone number, don't treat the Dispatcher like they are stupid, REPEAT IT. The reason they do this is that it is SO very common for people to automatically give you an address. The question is "What is the address of your emergency", if the caller gives us their home address, because they aren't thinking, 99% of the time, asking them to repeat it makes them realize their mistake. If you belong to an organization, you would be doing them a huge service if you would ask a member of your counties emergency service to come speak and explain the 911 process. Think about it, you have no idea how many lives you could save.
