Roy F. Healy, 89, of 405 Maple Ave., Ridgway, PA; Ridgway Postal Carrier For 35 Years

Roy F. Healy, 89, of 405 Maple Ave., Ridgway, PA, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 24, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 2, 1925 in Ridgway, son of the late Claude and Mae (Hawk) Healy.

He married Rita M. Frank on June 14, 1952, she survives.

WWII Veteran
He had resided in Ridgway all of his life, and he was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, the church choir, the Ridgway Fire Department - Second Ward for 52 years, and the American Legion.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, and he was a veteran of WWII.

He had been employed by the Ridgway Post Office as a letter carrier for 35 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael D. Healy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Daniel J. (Lisa) Healy of Ridgway; seven grandchildren, Michael Jr., Debra, Jason, Nichole, Christopher, Tyler, Danielle; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Poyner.

A Memorial Mass for Roy F. Healy will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. with military honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen's Burial Detail.

Officiating will be Fr. Brian Vossler, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church.

Burial will be in St. Leo Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ridgway Fire Department, St. Leo Catholic Church or to Pinecrest Manor.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home, 136 Center St., Ridgway.
