Donald K. Horton, 88, Wellsboro, PA

 Donald K. Horton, 88, a Wellsboro native, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at The Green Home. 

He was the son of the late Cleave and Lucille (Wilcox) Horton. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Ruth (Dartt) Horton; his 3 children, Donna (Blaine) Bush, David (Janet) Horton, Dianne (Mike) Hawk; his 2 grandsons, Sean (Kelly) Bush and Todd (Andrea) Bush; great- grandchildren, Nick, Bella, Claire, Brady and Leah; 2 sisters, Norma Gill and Barbara (Gayle) Shaw; sisters-in-law, Helen Putman, Dorothy Stevens and Phyllis Sims; brother-in-law, Richard Dartt; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gerald and Gene and a son Donald, Jr.

WWII Veteran

Don served in the US Navy on the USS Randolph during WW II.

He was a well-known business man having opened and managed the Sherwin-Williams Store for 30 years. Don was involved in the community in many ways. He was a member and past president of the Wellsboro Rotary Club, a member and past president of the Tyoga Country Club, and an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro. Many also remember him as a Small Fry football coach.

Don leaves behind many extended family members and friends. He will be greatly missed as the “Head of the Horton Herd”.

There will be no visitation, a memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 11:00 AM, at the First Presbyterian Church, 130 Main St., Wellsboro, with Rev. Dr. Roger Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery.
