Northwest Charitable Foundation Awards $5,000. Grant For Coudersport Library Construction Project

Steve Erway, manager of the Coudersport branch of Northwest Savings Bank, delivered a check for $5,000 from the Northwest Charitable Foundation to representatives of the Coudersport Public Library last week.

The Foundation, based in Warren, is a champion of community-building projects. The one-time grant will be used to help fund the construction of a new library adjacent to the current facility on Park Avenue.

Erway (left) is pictured with Keturah Cappadonia, library director, and library trustees Jane Metzger, Tonya Andrus and Terri Shaffer. Library Trustees had originally planned to break ground in the spring but FEMA-mandated work on the Mill Creek levee system that runs through Mitchell Park will delay construction. The construction will be postponed until the needed work on the levee system, which will continue through the summer, is completed.

A scale model of the new library (pictured) is on display at the library.
