Potter County Conducting Interviews For Women's Rehabilitation Center To Open Soon

Interviews are still being conducted for potential employees at the Women’s Rehabilitation Center, slated to open in the former Northern Tier Children’s Home as early as mid-February, according to commissioners. Jim Kockler of Potter County Human Services, who spearheaded the move to open the facility, will soon attend a commissioners meeting in Cameron County to present information to interested parties in that area.

I would like to commend the Commissioner's and other people involved in at least trying to Save Denton Hill Ski Area and make some sense out of the mess we have with a revolving-door in our criminal justice system. Also pushing for getting more kids into preschool's and some of the other things. I did not realize all of the things going on there until I read this article. Also congratulation to Dean Dow on getting back involved in the office he used to man for many years. Good things are going on and for all of the setbacks at least the county official's are trying to do something and not just sitting back.

Good idea on the Women's Rehabilitation Center as long as they can keep the evangelicals and Teen Challenge out of it. I've already heard rumors of certain people looking to ramrod their Christian ways into the place. Commissioners, hold firm on the separation of church and state! If you want to have a voluntary religious service or something that's okay but none of this indoctrination like we've already seen with the Teen Challenge crap. It not even for teens and the only challenge is how long they can pull the wool over the public's eyes on the fact that this is an evangelical Christian recruitment strategy.

They are sneaky at Teen Challenge. They work in the shadows. They take vulnerable adults (not teens) as residents in their "treatment program" and convert them to basically indentured servants. They send these guys out to work crappy jobs and turn over their paychecks to, guess who, Teen Challenge. The servants also cook and clean and maintain the place for Teen Challenge, so that means more bucks in the TC coffers. Once these guys get out of the TC clutches, they go back out into the community and usually get back on the booze and drugs and if they're lucky they'll get the kind of treatment they should have gotten before Teen Challenge was dangled at them as God's answer to all of their problems. But is Potter County really falling for that con game or is that just a rumor?

Ski Denton. Build tourist trap Motels and amusement crap. Stick a Walmart and a McDonald's along the highway too. Commercialize the heck out of the place. Make the county residents cough up a few dollars more in taxes, after all it will be for their own good.
