Sarafine A. Albertson, 83, of Galeton, PA

Sarafine A. Albertson, 83, of Galeton, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. 

Born July 18, 1931 in Galeton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Virginia M. (Colosimo) Close. 

Sara was a member of St. Bibiana Catholic Church and a 1949 Graduate of the Galeton High School. 

After attending Empire Beauty School in Williamsport, Pa she owned and operated the beauty salon, Close Cut & Curl for 20 years in Galeton. She then worked at Wundies in Williamsport, from 1974 thru 1979, and then moved to Gaines, Pa and worked at the Galeton Glove Factory, retiring in 1998. 

The love of her life, “Bud” Albertson, passed away in 1990 after an extended illness. 

Sara was a member of the Raymond R. Richar, V.F.W. Post 6611 Ladies Auxiliary in Galeton. 

She was an avid craft maker she also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading books upon books. Her television was a constant friend to her. She loved company and hosted many birthday parties, anniversary parties, and parties for any reason at her home, with her making her famous peanut butter fudge topping. 

Surviving are a brother, Thomas F. (Rose Marie) Close, Kittanning, PA; two sisters, Rosalyn (Joseph) Holenchik, Houtzdale, PA; and Kathryn (Stephen) Macensky, Galeton; 13 nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews; and 3 great great nieces. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Sara was predeceased by a sister, Angeline “Chickie” Meshula and a brother-in-law, Steve Meshula. 

Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Galeton, on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and Monday February 2, 2015 at St. Bibiana Catholic Church, from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. . The Rev. Joseph Dougherty will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery, Galeton. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Galeton Library.
