Since winter has decided to visit with a nice Artic Blast, I was excited to get my first seed catalog in the mail "Rare Seeds", out of Missouri. Needless to say Daisy Mae and Alba were not too impressed, but, I on the other hand, am fascinated with their multiple listings of heirloom seeds. Email me and let me know what your favorites catalogs are, there just might be a story in it.

At the Elementary school this week it's FAMILY FUN NIGHT #2, on Friday night the 16th they have planned a Book Swap and Movie Night with everything beginning at 5:30, it also is Spirit Day and everybody's wearing green.

It's a busy week at the Middle/High School for on Thursday night Jan. 15 at 6:00 Varsity Wrestling is hosting Portville Central in the Elementary Gym and at the MS/HS Gym Girls JV & Varsity Basketball Games vs Coudersport at home. The Boys Basketball teams will host Northern Potter at 6 on Friday night. Saturday mornings boys and girls 4, 5, 6th grade intramurals will be happening beginning at 10 am. Monday January 19th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day there will will be NO SCHOOL for students but teachers will have an Inservice Day. There also will be a Sports Boosters meeting at 7:00 MS/HS Library. Tuesday night our Wrestling teams will host Smethport at 6pm.

Financial Aide night for aspiring college students and their parents will be Tuesday the 20th the (FAFSSA) Free Application For Federal Student Aide and local scholarship information will be covered in detail. It will begin at 6:00 in the MS/HS Library.

NANI Popps is having their Winter Cabin Fever event Friday and Saturday Jan 16 & 17 2:00-8:00pm each day! I'm stopping in for some of the best ice cream in the area, hope to see ya there.

Speaking of Martin Luther King Day the Senior Center will be open at 11:00 to host a tureen dinner, fix a dish and come on by to see what they have planned for the spring.

The four-day District II Choral Festival will be held at Meadville Area High School from Jan. 21-24, we want to wish Mr. Smith, Brian Gilroy and Sky Barney a safe trip and our best wishes for a great experience for all of them.

At the Library "Story Hour" for children ages newborn to 4 will be available each Friday from 10:30-11:30 through the month of January. It will commence again in April. Storytellers Barb Herzog and Valerie Shaffer will be showcasing the "Sheep in the Jeep" series. Also every Monday night @6 the "Stitch Together Knit & Crochet" group meets. Wednesday Afternoon Book Club will be @ 1:30 on the 21st, they are reading "I Still Dream About You" by Fannie Flagg also that evening at 6:30 the Writer's Guild will meet.
