Helen Engstrom Zink, 98, of 18 Pinewood Ave. Lititz, PA, died on February 22, 2015 at Moravian Manor in Lititz after a short illness.

Born in Smethport, PA on November 16, 1916, she was a daughter of Gustaf and Hannah Melin Engstrom. On August 12, 1944, in Smethport, she married Dr. George B. Zink, who died on March 12, 1998.

Mrs. Zink was a life-long resident of Smethport until June 2001 when she moved to Lititz to live with her daughter’s family. She was a graduate of Smethport High School and attended Westbrook Academy in Olean, NY.

While living in Smethport, Mrs. Zink was an active member of the Free Christian Evangelical Church.

Surviving are one son, Paul (Sally) Zink of Chicago, IL, one daughter Janet (William) Ross of Lititz, three grandchildren: Melanie Ross of New Haven, CT, Heather Ross of Tucson, AZ, and John Zink of Chicago, IL, and one niece, Sharon Scheib of Iowa City, IA.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Holger, Melvin, Everett, and Merrell; and one sister, Beatrice, all of Smethport. She was also preceded in death by one niece, Susan Engstrom of Scottsdale, AZ.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, from 6-8 PM at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport. Funeral and committal services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 11 AM in the Free Christian Evangelical Church of Smethport with the Rev. Wilber C. Barber and Rev. B.J. Simms, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
