Baker Announces $4,000 Grant for Tioga County Historical Society

HARRISBURG – To help preserve and protect the history of Tioga County for generations to come, Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter) today announced that a $4,000 state grant has been awarded to the Tioga County Historical Society located in Wellsboro.

“The Tioga County Historical Society is an important organization that achieves a great deal with very limited resources. I applaud them on their many great works and on applying for and being awarded this grant funding,” said Baker. “The preservation of our county history and efforts to educate today’s citizenry about it are important goals the Tioga County Historical Society works hard to meet. I know this funding will go a long way in helping its members continue their mission.”

The funding, from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission’s Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program, was announced this week.

The grant program is designed to direct funding to strengthen Pennsylvania museums; provide general operating support to museums and official county historical societies; allow applicants to determine and describe how funds will be used; and achieve geographic balance in distribution.

The Tioga County Historical Society is dedicated to preserving local history through the collection of various historical records and artifacts. The society also runs the Ladd Genealogy Library and offers various search services.
