The latest news from the State Capitol 

The Governor’s Budget Proposal –
Last Tuesday, Gov. Tom Wolf addressed a joint session of the General Assembly and laid out his budget proposal for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Please click here to listen to my reaction to what he has in mind.

The Numbers Are In -
Pennsylvania’s February economic numbers are in. After collecting $17.3 million more than anticipated, General Fund collections for the 2014-15 fiscal year are $377.6 million, 2.2 percent above estimate. Here are some of the latest individual figures for the fiscal year-to-date:

 • Sales tax receipts are $61.7 million, 1 percent above estimate.  
 • Personal Income Tax revenue is $17.8 million, 0.2 percent above estimate.  
 • February corporate tax revenue is $169.6 million, 11.7 percent above estimate.  
 • Other General Fund tax revenue, including cigarette, malt beverage, liquor and table games taxes, is $23.8 million, 2.5 percent above estimate.
 • Non-tax revenue is $48.5 million, 10.7 percent above estimate.

this Monday, March 16, with the next round of hearings before the House Appropriations Committee. The week’s schedule of testifiers is as follows:
