Nessmuk Rod & Gun Club Adds weekend shoots

The Nessmuk Rod and Gun Club is holding indoor range shoots from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 22 in addition to the regular weekday Winter Indoor Range Shoots on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The indoor shoots on weekends and weekdays are for those who want to practice with handguns and rifles. The shoots are open to members and the public.

Handgun shoots will be Tuesday evenings and rifle shoots Thursday evenings through March 26. The club gates will open at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 6:30 p.m. Thursdays.

The rifle shoots are restricted to .22 caliber rifles and the handgun shoots are for any caliber provided the bullet is either lead or cast; no brass or jacketed ammunition is allowed. For those that need it, the club will have frangible ammunition for sale when the range is open in .380, 9mm, .40, .45 and .38 calibers.

For handguns, each shooter will be given five targets for 10 rounds each, and for .22 caliber rifles, one target with 10 bull’s-eyes.

There is a $3 fee for members and a $5 fee for non-members. The indoor range is heated and has seven indoor shooting stations. It is located at 4646 Route 287, about 3 miles south of Wellsboro.
