Potter County Native Goes To Study In The Land Down Under, New Zealand

Robert Carpenter, the son of Timothy Carpenter and the late Nicole Smith of Ulysses, is currently doing a semester studying abroad at Lincoln University in Lincoln, New Zealand. Robert is currently a sophomore at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania majoring in Early Childhood and Special Education. A native from the town of Ulysses and is a 2013 graduate from Northern Potter where he is still active as class President.

When asked what he wanted to gain out of this experience, Robert said, “I want to simply be able to appreciate on a deeper level what, we living here in America, take for granted. Also being able to embrace the moment, no matter which way it comes is crucial in this life because it is what shapes you! Also you have to be open minded, flexible, and be able to see things from a different perspective and sometimes in a whole new world, all throughout your life. I am so honored and blessed to be on this new journey and adventure of my life and I just want to thank everybody for believing and having faith in me!”

Robert invites yall to follow his, “Embracing in the “Tiki~Tours”…One Moment and Adventure At A Time” Journey in New Zealand, by visiting his blog at

We have known Bobby for a long time and are so happy for him and hope to follow him on his journey. His Mom was a beautiful young woman and wish she could be here to see how well Bobby has done and Tim and all of Bobby's family have to be so proud of what he has become and what he is doing with his life. We are so very proud of him as well. Prayers and wishes go out to Bobby and hope to see him when he gets home.
