“Searching for the Green” Family Hike at Sinnemahoning State Park

With over a foot of snow still on the ground, it is hard to believe that St. Patrick’s Day and spring are just around the corner. But have hope! There are still shades of green to be found at Sinnemahoning State Park.

On Saturday, March 14, join park staff in a fun exploration of the forest flora in search of mosses, ferns, pines and, with a little luck, some early spring blooms.

Hike will cover about 1-2 miles at a slow to moderate family-friendly pace over mostly level trails. All participants should be prepared for outdoor activity. Please dress for the weather, wearing layers as needed. Waterproof shoes or boots, plus a water bottle, are strongly recommended. No registration is required for this free family program.

Program will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Meet at the Park Office and Wildlife Center at Sinnemahoning State Park.

For more information, please call the Sinnemahoning State Park Office and Wildlife Center at 814-647-8401. If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the park you plan to visit. With at least three days’ notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs.

Additional details can be found online on the DCNR calendar at or on the Sinnemahoning-State-Park Facebook page.
