Thompson Announces Grant of $1,170,497.00 to Keystone Rural Health Consortia in Emporium

Thompson Announces Grant to Support Keystone Rural Health Consortia in Emporium

Bellefonte, PA – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has awarded a federal grant in the amount of $1,170,497.00 to Keystone Rural Health Consortia in Emporium.

“Having worked in non-profit healthcare for nearly three decades, I am very pleased that Keystone Rural Health Consortia has received these funds to supplement their operations,” said Rep. Thompson.  “Time and time again, Keystone Rural Health has proven they are up to the task of providing high-quality care to residents of Cameron County and the surrounding areas.”

“Keystone Rural Health was pleased to receive notification of the Supplemental Funding HRSA has awarded to us and the other Health Centers of Pennsylvania,” stated Kristie Bennardi, spokesperson for Keystone Rural Health Consortia.  “We will personally continue to do our part in reaching out to those in need of not only medical services, but we want to expand our oral health reach into our surrounding communities and this funding allows us to do that.”

The grant was awarded by HRSA through the Health Center Expanded Services Supplemental Funding (ES), which supports community-based organizations that serve populations with limited access to health care.

Congressman Thompson, if only you knew of the crookery and incompetence of the board and management, you would close the place down. What a waste of taxpayers dollars.

Could not agree more with the 6:12 pm comment...my family will never be seen there again....we transferred out over 5 years ago and everyone is doing better health wise not to mention you are actually treated with respect by the staff at our current physicians

I live in Emporium and have heard this also. However, I have NO idea who board members are or how they acquired the position?? I THINK ( correct me if I am wrong, please) these monies will go to the health center on 2nd street in Emporium and I have not heard too many good things. Am I incorrect??

Agreed!

Maybe the money will be used to restructure and get rid of the corrupt and unprofessional board.

The new non Cameron County appointed administrator was responsible for the only resident physician leaving. She also let go of the good nurses and kept the
lousy ones. A county commissioner on the board approved this. He is running for reelection and must be defeated. The entire board and administrator should resign. Cole Memorial and Penn
Highlands provide adequate health
care in Cameron County. Keystone rural Health should be shut down.

Big mistake giving all that money to a place with so much incompetence. I left there 5 years ago, after finding a new PCP, I was informed they they had lost 5-6 years of my medical files, and sent a maintenance man off sight to the place that holds them. I had been going there for 15 years, many of the information in those files I needed for my MS Dx.....to this day I still do not have those files. At one point I was switched medications and was informed by a nurse to bring the other RX back in so they could give them to people without insurance !!! What a crock of crap !!

I believe the new administration and new board at the Cameron County Health Care Center are working hard make the Center the premier place to go for healthcare in Cameron County.

Why don't you people get on the board. They are always looking for people to be on the board.

Dear 9:30, you are either a board member or staffing because you are clueless.

Believe me, staff are aware of what is going on at the health center but have no where to turn because of all the corruptness with the administrator and the board. Those with positive comments have no idea....

5-6 years ago the Consortia was not up to the standards it needed to be, since then they have a new Board and new Administration and have really made positive changes. All the negative comments above regarding the corrupt board are most likely due to several staffing changes that were long overdue and when you have disgruntled employees you have negative comments. With the strict oversight that is in place with the grants, I'm certain any incompetence would be found during audits and inspections. As I understand it that hasn't happened and they are actually getting praised by all the most recent audits. As with everything in life, take any comments with a grain of salt.....

In case you haven't noticed commenter 1:05, many of the previous comments have been made by former patients. Therefore, it is not only the staff or as you say "disgruntled former employees" that are not happy but the patients and public as well

1:05 sounds like Board Member or Administration.

Hopefully the Board will get a court order to get the names of those who are bashing the Health Center. Because you are "Anonymous" doesn't mean you can't be ID.

In case you haven't noticed, former patients from 5-6 years ago was before the new Board, Administration, and the restructuring of employees.

The administrator has been in her new role for nearly two years and the employees, patients & community have failed to see positive change. On the contrary we have lost our physician and the competent employees labeled disgruntled after being bullied and threatened. How long do you expect it will take to improve and expand healthcare services for the residents of Cameron County and positive change be noticeable? As for the HRSA grant isn’t this the same grant the center has survived/relies on annually for ten plus years?

ADM has a bad habit of becoming unreasonable and threatening people with calling the police or taking court action, aka bully.
