Glenn A. Miller, 74, of Big Shanty Road, Lewis Run, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 25, 1940 in Mount Alton, he was the son of the late Arthur G. and Annabelle Taylor Miller. On December 31, 1966, in Limestone, he married Helen L. Weaver, who survives.

Mr. Miller attended Bradford area schools. He enlisted in the United States Army on
September 3, 1963 and served in the Signal Corps as a radio operator. He was honorable discharged on September 4, 1965.

In 1985 he began working at Kendall Refinery, which later became American Refining Group, retiring in 2006. Prior to that, he worked in the local oil fields and the wood industry.

Glenn loved nature and enjoyed being outdoors. He also enjoyed working in his garage, his tractors, and relaxing on his back porch with his family.

Glenn was a hard-working man of faith who loved his family and his country. His sense of humor was enjoyed by all. He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by two sons, Gerald (Lynn) Norton of Ayer, MA, Gregory (Amelia) Miller of San Mateo, CA; three daughters, Tina (the late Keith) Lyberg of Bradford, Julie (Michael) Hilmes and Michele Miller, both of Lewis Run; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, Jeremy Lyberg, Jennifer and Joshua Hilmes, Andrea and John Norton, and Zoe and Eva Miller; two great-grandchildren, Paige and Gavin Rounsville; one sister, Madeline Daugherty of Goshen, NY; two sisters-in-law, Lea Miller of Lewis Run and Jo Miller of Gifford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alice Miller; and three brothers, Francis “Bud” Miller, William “Bill” Miller, and Wayne Miller.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday April 13, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 372 East Main St. and again on Tuesday from 10:00am to 11:00am at which time funeral services will be held with Rev. Robert Brest, pastor of the First Free Methodist Church officiating. Committal services and full military honors will be accorded in McKean Memorial Park.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, McKean County SPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
