Intelligent Transportation System Project Update

This is an update on the $4.2 million Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) project in in four counties in central Pennsylvania.

Next week the contractor will be working on Interstate 80 eastbound at Mile Marker 227 in Montour County.

Work includes placing fill and making drainage improvements in preparation for the placement of the Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) that will be installed there.

All work will be performed behind barrier and there will be no traffic impacts. The contractor also will be placing erosion and sediment controls at other project locations. There will be no traffic impacts with that work.

The project consists of constructing Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), Highway Advisory Radio (HAR), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and the required electrical equipment. Other work includes excavation, drainage, guide rail, pavement markings and boring.

Work will be performed in Columbia, Lycoming, Montour and Union counties.

The prime contractor is Bruce-Merrilees Electric Company.

The project is scheduled to be completed May 12, 2017.
