Potter County Treasurer Krista M. Miller is running for fifth term in office in May 19th Primary

Treasurer seeking re-election

Potter County Treasurer Krista M. Miller is running for a fifth term in office, seeking the Republican nomination in the May 19 Primary Election. “My experience and extensive knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of this office uniquely qualify me for this position,” she said.

Miller serves on the Potter County Salary Board, Retirement Board, and Records Improvement Committee. She also serves on the executive board of the County Treasurers Association of Pennsylvania and has received continuing education on the functions of the office: receiving; receipting into general ledger; depositing; investing; monthly reporting of monies coming into the county with a budget of approximately $15 million; and maintaining and reconciling approximately 50 bank accounts.

The office is also responsible for receiving monthly reports and revenue from 30 tax collectors and settling with them at year end; as well as collecting, reporting, and disbursing the hotel excise tax.

A county treasurer in Pennsylvania also acts as an agent for the commonwealth in handling dog, hunting, fishing, small games of chance, and bingo licenses, as well as sportsman’s firearm permits.

Miller said during her 15-plus years as treasurer she has modernized the office through technology, including online dog sales, acceptance of credit card payments, express deposit, direct deposit, and other innovations.

A lifelong Potter County resident, she and her husband, Mike, live in Homer Township and have two children. Krista and her family enjoy spending time together camping, hunting, fishing, and traveling around Potter County supporting benefit softball tournaments.
