**Salamanca Police warn of killer heroin - one death, three overdoses in 24 hours**

BREAKING:
**Salamanca Police warn of killer heroin - one death, three overdoses in 24 hours**

SALAMANCA, N.Y. — An extremely potent derivative of heroin circulating in the Salamanca area has resulted in three overdoses and one death in the last 24 hours, authorities reported today.

“We have learned through investigation that the suspected ‘killer heroin’ is packaged in small white/clear wax baggies with no markings,” said Troy Westfall, Salamanca City police chief. “The heroin appears to be a clearer/white granular mix which is different than what we have previously seen. This could be a purer, more powerful drug and/or mixed with fentanyl, which is extremely dangerous.”

Police are asking anyone who may have purchased heroin recently to not use the drug and destroy it.

First responders were able to save the three people who overdosed by using Narcan, a medicine which immediately counters the effects of heroin if administered in enough time.

Officers with the Salamanca Police Department, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force are working to track down the source of the drug.
Anyone with information on the matter is asked to contact authorities at 373-2773 or 1-800-328-3784. All calls are kept confidential.

It's called the power of addiction. Be kind, these individuals are someone's child, brother, daughter, Dad or friend. Thank goodness three were saved, my condolences to the loved ones of the one who passed away. My heart is heavy for you.
Please know that there are many people out there who send love and prayers to you at this difficult time.
